How to install peel and stick wallpaper?

Before you start...

  • Unpack and check your order upon receiving it, even if you won't install it right away.
  • Check color consistency and roll match or pattern repeat throughout your order always before installing.
  • Never install your wallpaper if you think it has a defect or flaw. Contact us first.
  • Start from left to right when possible.
  • The wall needs to be in good conditions and clean, no cracking paint, humidity spots, stains, or dust.

Tools

  • MEASURING TAPE
  • UTILITY KNIFE OR SCISSORS
  • SMOOTHING BRUSH
  • CLEANING SUPPLIES (SUCH AS A DAMP CLOTH OR SPONGE)

STEP 1: Clean the wall


Make sure the wall is clean and free of any dust or debris. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the surface and let it dry completely.

STEP 2: Draw the mark line


From the width of the wallpaper roll from the left most wall, draw a vertical line ceiling to floor. This is the Guide Line for your first roll.

STEP 3: Peel the backing paper


Peel and fold 6 inches of the backing paper leaving glue exposed to begin the installation.


STEP 4: Install the first roll


Apply the roll to the top of the wall, allow a bit of excess to overlap the ceiling. Check if the wallpaper is straight, align the right side with the Mark Line. If not straight lift and repeat this step. Use your smoothing brush to press out any air bubbles or wrinkles as every time you remove a little of the backing paper.

The most crucial step of hanging wallpaper is the first strip is straight and level.This will impact the rest of the installation, so it is important to pay special attentionand take your time to do it correctly.





STEP 5: Apply more rolls


Select your next roll of wallpaper and apply it so that its left side overlaps the right edge of the previous roll matching the repeat. Find a friend to help with the alignment. Using the same procedure apply more rolls.

STEP 6: Trim


After applying to the entire wall, trim the excess wallpaper along the ceiling and baseboard.


STEP 7: Care


Gently clean out the dust with the installing brush. Avoid scratching with a sharp object.

Tips and Tricks

  • Start with a small section of wallpaper to get the hang of the process before tackling larger areas.
  • If you make a mistake, don't worry! Peel and stick wallpaper can easily be removed and repositioned as needed.
